Wellbeing Coaching and Support
At TPP Hydrotherapy, supporting all our patients, not just treating them, throughout their time with us is paramount.
We now offer a specialist, person-centred health and wellbeing coaching service that complements hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and rehabilitation by supporting the wider impact of injury, pain, disability, long-term conditions and changing health.
Serious injury, chronic pain and changing health can affect far more than physical function. Coaching creates space to explore confidence, independence, routines, emotional wellbeing and everyday life, then turn what matters most into realistic next steps.
What is health & wellbeing coaching?
Wellbeing coaching is a structured, purposeful and confidential one-to-one intervention. It sits alongside rehabilitation and MDT Care and is distinct from therapy or clinical treatment.
It offers a collaborative, person-centred conversation that helps you explore what matters, what may be getting in the way, your strengths and options, and the changes you want to make. The coach does not prescribe solutions; coaching builds confidence, behaviour change and self-management alongside your wider clinical and rehabilitation care.
Health and Wellbeing Coaching for young people
Health & Wellbeing Coaching provides protected time for a young person to make sense of the wider impact of injury or changing health, identify what matters to them, strengthen confidence and self-management, and turn priorities into manageable actions. The intervention is particularly relevant where physical rehabilitation is progressing alongside challenges with motivation, identity, independence, routines, emotional regulation, education, relationships or confidence about the future.
NHS England describes Health & Wellbeing Coaches as experts in behaviour change who support people to increase self-management, motivation and commitment to change through personalised goals.
A guide for case managers
What might we explore in sessions?
- Adjusting to injury or changes in health, mobility, independence or identity
- Chronic pain, fatigue, sleep, pacing, energy and managing long-term conditions
- Motivation, confidence and routines around rehabilitation and everyday life
- Stress, emotional wellbeing, uncertainty, setbacks and coping with change
- Returning to education, work, family or meaningful activities; setting goals and communicating needs
What to expect
Initial WellBeing assessment
We explore your current situation, what matters most and the areas of life affected by your health or rehabilitation. Together we agree a small number of priorities and confirm that well-being coaching is the right support for you.
Follow-up WellBeing sessions
Sessions are led by what is most useful to you that day and may use reflective questions, confidence scales, strengths-based conversations, goal-setting and behaviour-change tools to help you develop your own strategies.
Review and coordination
The number and frequency of sessions are tailored to need and reviewed regularly. With consent, a brief progress summary can be shared with your case manager or wider rehabilitation team to support joined-up care.
How sessions are delivered
Most sessions are delivered face-to-face and always in a safe and peaceful space. This might be at The Paddock Pool itself in our private patient rest room or at one of our spaces in Milton Keynes. Virtual sessions can also be arranged if appropriate for the individual.
